Small Family Business

An unexpected trauma insurance payment

Client

A husband and wife who ran a successful small business held their personal insurance through Panorama. When they decided to sell the business, they reached out to us for advice. With their circumstances changing, they wanted to review their existing policies and explore whether they could reduce their insurance costs.

Challenge

What began as a routine policy review led our advisors to file a life-changing claim.

During a conversation with the client, Mark learned that the husband had suffered a traumatic health episode several months earlier. Like many in their situation, the family wasn’t aware their personal insurance policy included trauma cover; their focus had been on recovery and the sale of the business. Making an insurance claim wasn’t even on their radar.

Solution

Our team immediately went to work, coordinating with the client, medical professionals and the insurer to gather the required information.

The goal was simple: remove the stress from the process and secure the best possible outcome for the family. Just six weeks after that initial phone call, the claim was approved, and $750,000 was paid to the client.

The payment arrived at a critical time, giving the family greater certainty and allowing them to focus on what mattered most: health, recovery and the next chapter of their lives.

What began as a conversation about reducing insurance premiums resulted in a life-changing outcome for the client and their family. It also highlights the importance of reviewing your insurance whenever life changes. Whether you’re selling a business, changing careers or approaching retirement, a simple conversation can ensure your cover remains appropriate and may even uncover benefits you didn’t realise were available.

At Panorama, an insurance policy is more than paperwork; it’s a promise, and one we’re committed to honouring when it matters most. It’s moments like these that make us proud to stand alongside everyday Australians and use our expertise to help them obtain the outcomes they deserve.
